I was very excited when I asked to get involved in this project. I could really see the potential this bathroom had to completely transform this beautiful house into a stylish upmarket modern home thus adding considerable value to the property.
Gerard and his son Kevin initially contacted me by phone and asked
me if I would be interested in refurbishing their bathroom as
it needed modernisation. I arranged a meeting with them to find
out what they had in mind. I suggested they go for a complete
make over as the bathroom was quite dated. After doing up a quotation
which was within their budget the work promptly started.
First of all I stripped out the bath, wash hand
basin and sink. I then removed the old tiles and flooring leaving
me with a blank canvas .I had come up with a design which I thought
was quite exciting and immediately started working on achieving
the look I was after. I proceeded to work on the tiling going
for a black and white theme which is quite striking in its simplicity.
Gerard and Kevin also required a new electric shower which will
work out more cost effective in the long term as they were relying
on heating water from their emersion .I did all the prelim work
for the shower at this stage because I was going for the highest
possible finish and did not want any pipe work or cables showing.
Next came the new bath, wash hand basin and
toilet which I plumbed in after I have the walls and floor tiled
to give a beautiful finish to the bathroom. I installed a new
designer chrome radiator, which can be used as a towel rack, that
becomes a beautiful feature in itself. I set this off with a stainless
steel light fitting with four spotlights . Then the new mirror
and chrome shower screen completed the look .
As I have said before I really enjoy working
on these projects. I don?t think there is abetter feeling than
knowing you have transformed a space to something of such a high
quality and visually very pleasing. I hope Gerard and Kevin get
much pleasure out of their new bathroom and I look forward to
working for them on new projects in the future.
